There was significant interest and great excitement regarding the re-opening of pubs in England after the COVID-19 pandemic. While no one should think that we are beyond the worst of the pandemic, or that we can afford to take things for granted now, there has been a high demand for things to forward.
Anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable about the idea of pubs being open, should avoid them, and do everything they can to remain safe. There are genuine concerns about the impact the re-opening of pubs will have in COVID-19 pandemic figures, but equally, many people have been delighted to have the chance to meet up with friends in a social setting.
If you are looking to enjoy a drink in or around Camberwell, you have a range of options. Not every pub in the area is looking to open now, or even in the immediate future, but you should be able to find a bar close to you.

Stay in touch with Government guidelines
It is worthwhile familiarising yourself with these guidelines before you pop along to your nearest or favourite boozer. The guidelines are as follows:
· Being asked to use hand sanitiser or handwashing facilities as you enter
· Booking required with some pubs restricting your time
· Contactless-only ordering from tables, such as through an app
· No loud music live gigs or sporting events that will encourage raised voices
· No vertical drinking (customers have to be seated)
· One person in the toilet at a time
· Table service instead of ordering at the bar
· Tables two metres apart and customers one metre apart
· Your details may be recorded for NHS track and trace
More information on the guidelines for visiting the pub can be found on the Government website.
As we move forward, it is likely more pubs and restaurants will re-open in the local area, and hopefully residents will feel happy and confident about venturing back to their favourite premises.
