Located in north Oxfordshire, Bicester is a historic town that’s rapidly growing. The town centre has benefited from £70 million of redevelopment, and there’s more to come as part of Bicester’s status as a garden city.
Being situated only 12 miles from Oxford, and halfway between London and Birmingham, Bicester is ideal for commuters. It boasts two mainline railway stations, which provide direct and regular services to both Oxford and London (as well as other locations) so travelling for work or pleasure is easy. The M40 runs close to Bicester making it easy for locals to drive south to London, or north to places such as Banbury or Birmingham. The A34 is also close by, which connects Bicester with Oxford.
The town centre hosts a great selection of high street shopping brands, and there are weekly markets, as well as farmers markets and even a French market. If you’re after a more luxurious shopping experience, then Bicester Village is nearby with over 160 designer brands on offer.
Bicester has some fantastic local bakeries, cafes, pubs and restaurants, and you can choose from local independents or national chains. There are great local amenities too, with good healthcare provision, a Post Office and a local library.
Being located just on the edge of the Cotswolds, there’s some stunning scenery to be found and explored close to Bicester, so it’s a great place for walkers. There are plentiful days out to be enjoyed nearby too, with landscaped gardens and stately homes to visit. If you want to investigate some larger towns, then Aylesbury, Buckingham or Banbury are all within easy reach.
