Have you given much thought to living in Camberwell?
It’s a real up-and-coming part of London. Whilst in the past many might not have given it much consideration, the popularity of Camberwell is undoubtedly growing.
And as a result, the housing market is on the rise too.
But we’re not here to (only) talk about properties – we think Camberwell is a fantastic place to live for a variety of different reasons.
In fact, we reckon it’s probably the best place to live in London. Allow us to explain why…
It Has a Great Arts Scene
Camberwell is known first and foremost for having an amazing arts scene.
It is the home of the Camberwell College of Arts, but there is much more to it than that. There are galleries, museums, and exhibitions available throughout the year.
Camberwell Arts is an organisation that hosts multiple events, including the longest running visual arts festival in the UK – aptly named Camberwell Arts Festival.
Now celebrating 25 years of existence, it is bigger and better than ever before.
It is having an anniversary celebration later this year, which will run for nine days from June 15th to June 23rd.
Excellent Bars, Restaurants and Coffee Shops
If you love visiting any of the above, then you’ll appreciate living in Camberwell.
There has been an increasing amount of trends bars and pubs popping up all over the area in recent years.
And they cover a variety of different styles. The Phoenix Pub is our suggestion, it serves a fine selection of ales.
If you’re looking for bars, head down Camberwell Church Street where you’ll find plenty of options.
As for restaurants, you can find excellent cuisine from around the world, all found within a small geographic location. But we’d recommend the good old British Gastro Pub known as The Black Sheep.
It’s a Good Family Place
Although we’ve just been talking about good bars and pubs, Camberwell is a good place to settle down with a family.
There are lots of family-friendly things to do – such as the art-based activities and events we discussed earlier.
And Camberwell is known for having a number of good schools, and both Primary and Secondary levels. Don’t forget about Camberwell College of Arts.
It’s also in a good location, with decent transport links. Which means you can go on a fun day out to various places in the surrounding areas.
A lot of young professionals and couples live in Camberwell, but it is popular with families too.
The Property Market and Hunters
One of the best reasons to live in Camberwell is the property market.
There is lots of suitable, available housing of all types – whether you’re looking to buy or rent.
In the last year, the average price paid for a property in Camberwell was £560,655, up 1.7 percent on the previous year.
