Baldock is a picturesque historic market town located in Hertfordshire, England. History
Baldock itself is reported to have been founded by the Knights Templar at the time of the Crusades. In 1227 King Henry III granted a charter for its weekly Wednesday market, which still continues today. From 1760 onwards, the town developed rapidly with a wide range of trades such as clockmakers, blacksmiths, tailors and wheelwrights. The growth of industry during this time was largely due to Baldock’s strategic location on major transportation routes between London and Cambridge.
Transport
Baldock is well-connected by road and rail, making it a popular spot with commuters. The A1(M) motorway runs nearby, providing easy access to London, the north of England and beyond. Baldock railway station can take you quickly into London or Cambridge and Stansted Airport is also within easy reach of around 25 miles.
