Knowle is outside of Birmingham, three miles east of Solihull. It’s a beautiful traditional village, perfect for people looking for a quiet place to live that’s within easy reach of bustling cities.
Birmingham is roughly only 30 minutes drive away for commuters, but this can increase to up to an hour during rush hour. By train, it’s 40 minutes away from nearby Dorridge, as Knowle doesn’t have its own station. The village sits just off the M42, so getting into Birmingham or nearby Coventry is straightforward. Birmingham airport is just 15 minutes drive from Knowle and flies to destinations around Europe – great for a holiday, city break or work trip.
Knowle has a day nursery and church of England primary school all conveniently within the village. Nearby Dorridge also has a primary school as well as a catholic primary school. For older children, unusually, the village has a secondary school, Arden Academy, named the best state secondary school in the UK.
There are several medical centres and GP surgeries in and around Knowle, with the nearest hospital up the road in Solihull.
For such a small high street, Knowle has lots of restaurants. Choose from Indian brasseries, sophisticated British restaurants, seafood places and several Italian eateries too. Combine that selection with Birmingham’s vast array of brilliant restaurants, and you’re spoilt for choice for a special dinner out.
Knowle has several fantastic pubs and bars for a drink, including wine bars and family-friendly pubs.
While Birmingham has plenty of major big name brands for shopping, Knowle has lots of smaller independent shops. Places include interiors experts Freak le Chic for your furniture, Belle Diva for ladies clothing and gift shop Carly’s.
When it comes to the great outdoors, Knowle has a local park, a canal system for a lovely walk, and a golf course for an afternoon spent on the green.
Knowle also has plenty of clubs and societies, including tennis and squash clubs and a local history society.
