Worsley is in Salford, within Greater Manchester, and it has the historic Bridgewater Canal running right through it.
A gorgeous base for commuters, Worsley is about 20 minutes from central Manchester, either by car or public transport. Due to its proximity to Manchester, it means that London is within easy reach too, and Euston station is just under 3 hours away. The closest train station to Worsley is in Walkden. The M61, M62, M60 and A580 are all minutes away, taking you to Liverpool, North Wales, the Lake District, Birmingham and beyond. For international travel, Manchester Airport is just 30 minutes away.
Worsley has several good primary schools that have received a good or outstanding rating from Ofsted. Bridgwater School is the local independent secondary school, and there are other options nearby too.
The M60 runs through Worsley, making The Trafford Centre just a five-minute drive away. It’s one of the largest shopping centres in the UK and is home to all the high street brands and shops that you could want. There’s John Lewis, Selfridges, Primark, Zara, and so many more to choose from. It also has great leisure facilities with an ODEON IMAX, the LEGOLAND discovery centre, and Laser Quest. Besides all this, there are over 60 places to eat and drink, including Five Guys, Café Rouge and TGI Fridays, and the centre has real palm trees to admire whilst you’re there too.
Worsley has plenty of pubs and some are along the lovely canal-side, such as The Bridgewater Hotel. The John Gilbert is a very popular local pub that’s named after the canal’s principal engineer, and it’s a family-friendly option that serves up tasty food too. Worsley Old Hall is in a Grade II listed building and a traditional, cosy pub with open fires to enjoy in the winter months.
Tung Fong is a restaurant serving high-quality Chinese food since the 80s. It’s in an incredible Grade II listed black and white building next to the entrance of Bridgewater Canal. George’s restaurant is owned by Ryan Giggs and his friends, and it serves modern British food in a beautiful location overlooking the canal, right in the centre of Worsley.
There are several hospitals within 10-15 minutes of Worsley, the closest of which is Salford Royal. Worsley has several GPs and medical practices and pharmacies and dentists too.
Worsley and the surrounding areas are lush with greenery, golf clubs, gardens and country parks so there’s plenty to enjoy out in the fresh air. The canal provides easy strolls right on the doorstep, and Worsley Woods is a beautiful local spot with wildflowers and sculptures.
Blackleach country park is a Local Nature Reserve with 50 hectares of beautiful land and a reservoir. It’s a lovely place to go, where you can watch wildlife and enjoy a picnic. It even received a Green Flag award.
Frequent public transport makes it really easy to head into Manchester to enjoy all the museums, art galleries, shops, bars, and restaurants on offer there.
