East Grinstead is a beautiful town in West Sussex.
It’s got lots of fantastic scenery, lovely shops, and excellent pubs and restaurants to eat and drink at.
The town also has lots of fun things to do.
Here, we’re going to share our top five things to do in the East Grinstead area.
National Trust Standen
If there’s one thing East Grinstead can boast, it’s featuring plenty of amazing walks, in some of the most gorgeous places in the UK.
The National Trust Standen is one such place.
It also happens to be an arts and crafts home, so you’ll find an array of illustrations and other pieces of artwork sure to inspire.
There are different exhibitions for you to check out at different times. But we’d advise saving that for the colder months – the summer is for exploring outdoors.

British Wildlife Centre
Experience some of the country’s finest wildlife at the British Wildlife Centre.
See the animals up close and learn all about them from some of the Centre’s experts. Animals include red squirrels, otters, badgers and wildcats.
They also have photography days, where they let in fewer people to give you a better chance of getting some amazing shots.
You should also be sure to check out their conservation efforts, and the ongoing projects they’re running.
School trips are also fairly common, with local education institutes keen to send their kids on a fun, yet educational day out.
Wakehurst
Over 500 acres of incredible scenery can be found at Wakehurst, including ornamental gardens, woodlands, and a nature reserve.
It is open daily from 10:00am until 6:00pm, and there are numerous events held throughout the day and the year.
Events include badger watching evenings and various plant exhibitions.
The Millennium Seed Bank, the largest wild seed conservation project in the world, can also be found at Wakehurst.
Wakehurst is very child friendly, and so is more than suitable for a good family day out. We’d advise checking out the official website for more information.
Hever Castle and Gardens
About 20 minutes outside East Grinstead is Hever Castle and Gardens.
An interesting historical piece of information about this place – it was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn.
Attractions include the castle itself, which stands in good shape, the stunning gardens it was to offer, and Hever Lake.
There are also fun activities for kids, such as archery and shield painting. If you go on the right day, you can even see a jousting event (all safe, of course!).
All in all, this is one of the best places to visit if you live in East Grinstead.
The Llama Park
Our final suggestion for a day out may seem a little unusual – but a trip to the Llama Parks is always worthwhile.
It’s exactly what is sounds like – a place packed with llamas, suitable for you to go and visit with your children.
Open every day from 10:00am until 5:00pm, there’s always lots going on.
You can go and see all the different llamas they have, and even take one for a walk yourself!
