So, you’re thinking about moving to Wetherby.
We don’t blame you – it’s a fantastic place to live. A small market town vibe, with big city connections, makes it suitable for almost everyone.
And with a population of around 20,000, it really is a small place. But full of character, history, and friendly people.
There are plenty of different housing options if you do decide to move to Wetherby, and we’ll go into more detail about those later.
But for now, we want to give you an idea of what the area is like, and what you can expect if you decide to live here.
It Has That Small Community Feel
If you prefer the quieter life, then opting to live somewhere like Wetherby, as opposed to one of the big cities, is the smart thing to do.
Being a small market town, Wetherby has a great sense of community. People have their local shops and pubs, where they know the owners and other visitors.
As opposed to living in Leeds where there is a lot more to do, but a more independent feeling amongst its residents.
And as it is nestled in the countryside, there is some fantastic scenery, which you can see the benefits of all year round.
Wetherby is also located on the banks of the River Wharfe.
Wetherby Is in a Great Location
As mentioned, Wetherby is located in the ‘Golden Triangle’ – the name of the area between Leeds, York and Harrogate.
And it has excellent transport links to all three, particularly Leeds. You’re just 20 minutes from the city centre.
It’s also worth noting that Wetherby is very well positioned in Great Britain – as it’s sits half way between London and Edinburgh, and acts as a mid-way stop between Liverpool and Hull.
So whichever way you’re going, if you’re travelling cross-country Wetherby will probably be on your radar.
Eating and Drinking – What’s on Offer?
As is the case in many Yorkshire market towns, there’s a great drinking culture in Wetherby.
Plenty of pubs and bars for you to choose from, whether you're looking for a quiet afternoon drink, or a Friday night out.
As for food, you won’t be short on quality or options. There is a fantastic array of restaurants, cafes, pub-grub and more.
The Wetherby Whaler is, as you would expect, a massive favourite with the locals.
Local pubs offer excellent British food, whilst there’s an amazing Indian restaurant named Mango that you should definitely check out.
